I think I saw a yellow leaf or two today, hiding among among the green foliage.
I'm pretty sure the first day of autumn is just around the corner. What better way to welcome the changing of the seasons than some celebratory art? You probably have a fall bucket list, which may include a bit of crafting, some decorating, fall cleaning and opening a new page in your journal or planner. |
Here is an easy tutorial for a cute, doodled pumpkin to spice up your autumn-y creativity.
It's super easy and fast! Anyone can draw it! Once you start doodling them, you won't want to stop!

Materials Needed:
- Paper: Any kind will do. I used regular copier paper here.
- Pencil
- White eraser
- Ink pen
- Coloring tools
- Clipboard (optional) to hold paper in place.
Step 1.
Using your pencil, draw a rough oval. (Think of a wobbly egg.) Pumpkins aren't perfect, so your shapes don't have to be super even.
Step 2.
Add a half oval (or letter "C") to one side, keeping the top and bottom "lumps" even.
Step 3.
Repeat on the other side to finish your pumpkin body.
Step 4.
Make a small curved line on top for the pumpkin "hat".
Step 5.
Add a small rectangle to the top of the pumpkin for the stem.
Step 6.
Draw a couple of crooked lines through your stem and "hat" to create the woody, twisted effect of dried pumpkin stems.
Add a curly bit of vine too, if you like.

Step 7.
Once you are happy with your pumpkin, use your ink pen to trace all the lines you want to keep, reshaping any crooked lines carefully.
When the ink is dry, carefully erase all of your pencil marks to reveal a clean, ready-to-color pumpkin.

Step 8.
You can start drawing more pumpkin friends, or color your (lonely) pumpkin using your colored pencils, markers or digital. You can check out my tutorial here for how to color a doodle with PicMonkey (you can do it for free!)
Hope you enjoyed! Don't forget to have fun with your punkin's.
