Why Bloggers Should Get Out of Bed Today and Try One More Time
"What's the point?" you mumble into your pillow. Business is slow, bills are fast, and its so hard to feel like a professional when the majority of your work day will probably include cleaning toilets or scraping baby food from your ceiling.
But you should get up. There are things to do today, to make tomorrow better...
And what if today is the day that something freaking amazing happens? Do you really want to miss it?
Poke poke. Come on. Open at least one eye, and check out these 7 excellent reasons to get out of bed today (sometime) and work on your blog:
1. You NEED to Check Your Emails
So what if all you have waiting for you are a couple of free e-courses, some spam and a note from yourself to test your contact form?
What if today is the day you get asked to guest post? What if today is the day you find out an article you submitted to a some cool place months ago was accepted?
What if today is the day you have a flood of comments from a group of readers?? Or the day you find out you made a LOT of affiliate sales?
Delete your spam with pride. One day, it will be replaced by something wholesome. And you don't want to sleep through that.
2. Check Your Ad Accounts
If you have them, then you should probably check them 2-3 times per hour, obsessively.
No. It doesn't help. But isn't all that anticipation exciting?
Sure, its frustrating as hell when you see barely a cent or two turning over on your dashboard. But did you have that cent or two before you started the account?
No. So get up and make flirty eyes at those pennies you are earning. One day, they will turn into dollars.
3. Check Your Social Networks!
Look! You were followed by someone who claims to be a professional social media marketing expert. Their photo is of an Asian bikini model and their bio says they will bring you "hot luck in your job".
Now, you can stop saying you aren't loved.
You've got followers. You've got admirers.
Sure they are all trying to sell you something. But that must mean that they have faith in your ability to succeed. Don't let them down. Prove them right.
4. Check Your Affiliate Sales
What?? No sales? Didn't anyone even read that brilliant, 5000 word review you wrote?
You sweated blood to write that thing. You researched statistics when you could have been watching funny cat videos.
Are you just going to lie there in bed all day and let people get by with ignoring your advice?
No. You are going to get up and go see whether or not the links work, and get to the bottom of this $0 balance mystery today.
You can't earn that passive income you want by passively giving up. There is a time to call it quits, but today is not the day.
5. Check Your Traffic Stats
Oh. That explains a lot.
Well, the good news is that it only takes ONE visitor to make a post go viral. You have to make sure that the RIGHT one person gets to your site.
You don't do that by stuffing your head under your blanket. You do it by nailing up detour signs on the information highway, leading people to YOUR neck of the woods.
Those signs aren't going to nail themselves up. And your visitors aren't going to take the link less traveled unless you pop up and give them a good reason.
6. Read Some Success Stories
We both know you have a love/hate relationship with success stories. They are motivational salt rubbing into your wounded ego.
Great! Salt heals wounds. So the more you read, the better you should feel. Now go stalk some successful bloggers and learn new things.
Because today might be the day you learn something that gives you the best idea ever. What if that opportunity gets lost in your feed?
7. Get Down to Business
Now that you are wide awake, its time to roll up your sleeves and plan the day.
Plant seeds today, reap fruit tomorrow. You aren't going to grow anything except bedsores if you don't get up and get movin'.
Don't Give Up. You Have a Lot to Offer The World Today!
You have something to say. You have something to share. Whether its a short Tweet, an epic article, a stellar product, or a brilliant service...you are the only one who can offer it your way.
So don't get lost in the shadows. Don't be late for your own party.
Set yourself some small goals for the day. Then set the snooze and give yourself 20 minutes to dream a little about how cool its going to be when you finally get where you want to be.
Ain't nobody else can write that success story for you.
