I pretty much thought the adult coloring page trend was dying out. I mean, why would anyone buy coloring pages when there are tons available for free?
Then I saw two women in the store last weekend nearly tie up and fight over the last copy of a coloring book on the shelf. Wow.
Now, I personally love adult coloring pages. I also color all of my kids coloring books when I get the chance. But I can't always find stuff I want to color. There are a lot of beautiful, richly-detailed patterns out there, but some of them are so small and busy that they give me a headache and even some motion sickness when I try to focus on them.
I kinda like "scenes" rather than patterns. So I started thinking. If I can't find exactly what I want to color, maybe there are other people out there looking for something a bit different too.
Long story short, I decided to pull out all of my old art folders and start repurposing tons of artwork I did back in the day. Why not? It's just sitting in the office not being used. Put that stuff to work!
Some of these date back to 1999. The ideas are still good, but the artwork is...well, kinda bad. This week I started working on a stack, and this is the first one, an Alice and Wonderland illustration:

In case you are wondering what the original looked like, I took this as I was working:
I opted to keep the "paper doll" feel and a mix of realistic and surreal because it IS Alice and the whole story was just a tiny bit weird to start with. :)
If you want to color an Alice, you can grab the digital printable here on my Etsy shop.
If you are a coloring fan and don't want to fight strange women at Wal-mart for last copies of coloring books, (or you just want something besides geometric patterns to color) don't forget to check back often. I will be renewing and posting more coloring pages over the coming weeks.
